Episode 27: Season Two -- Therapists and Money PLUS 3 Podcasting Lessons

Podcast seasons will be themed to further dive into money and its various intersections, e.g. money and race, money and gender, money and religion, money and ability, etc. This season, since the last few episodes of season 1 were so popular, we'll continue to hone in on therapists and money.

Season two of the Mind Money Balance podcast is here!! Season one was a great way to cut my teeth on podcasting and get my feet under me. Season two is themed “Therapists and Money,” where I’ll bring on some epic guests to talk about their money mindset, hiccups or mistakes they’ve overcome, and some of their favorite money tips and tools. Therapist or not, this season will have lots of yummy takeaways!

Three lessons I learned from season one of being a podcaster

  1. Things take time. Patience isn’t my jam. I like to work and see a result quickly. This is probably a combination of internalizing capitalism, having “hard work” reinforced in various ways. It wasn’t until episode 17 of the podcast “How to have an abundance mindset without spiritual bypassing” that the podcast started to pick up steam. It was around then when I learned of the term “pod-fading.” This is what happens to new podcasters when they don’t see results, so they stop recording episodes. In fact, a shocking number of podcasts don’t make it past seven episodes! “Pod-fading” happens all the time in real life. When it comes to money, lots of people get discourage their debt isn’t paid down as quickly as they like, so they throw in the towel of speeding up their debt repayment. Going back to this lesson, it’s important to start practicing gratitude for the journey instead of rushing toward a result.

  2. Find ways to fulfill needs in unique ways. Be it creativity, movement, tasks, etc, we need to harness multiple parts of our identity and that often means trying out new things! Podcasting helped me tap into a different side of my personality that I can’t in a therapy session. Podcasting allows me to ask direct questions, push for more, and be more of a two-way conversation.

  3. People love easy summaries and takeaways. Which is why this season, I’ll be wrapping up each episode with specific takeaways from each episode. That way, if you are speed-listening, or get distracted during an episode, you can still catch the highlight reel!
