Millionaire Monday ft. Meet the Power Couple

Introduce yourselves!

We are Candice & Jonathan Torian. We both work in IT. Jonathan is a Sales Engineer for one of the leading business intelligence tools in the country, and I am a marketing technology consultant. I, Candice, work specifically in the customer loyalty realm. Funny story, I don't think you can get either of our families to describe what we do for a living!

When, and how, did you hit millionaire status?

We hit millionaire status when I was 30, and Jonathan was 32. That was in 2016. When we started dating, we collectively earned $120k (2010, dual-income w/debt in an apartment), and now we earn well over $300k a year. We make that $300k with a dual income, we live debt-free, and have three rental properties that provide income, and a fully paid-off home. Avoiding lifestyle creep as we got pay increases in our "day jobs," and investing in real estate income expedited our path to millionaire status.

If you could share a lesson or advice with others who are looking to achieve millionaire status, what would it be?

Have a mutually agreed-upon financial plan that includes 1-year short term and 5-10-year long term goals. Review the short-term plan monthly as a couple, stick with it as much as possible, but leave room to make adjustments as needed.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

The most common mistake we find on the path to wealth is lifestyle inflation. Avoid it. (Plug: check out my video on avoiding lifestyle creep here).

Where can we find you?

On our website, Meet the Power Couple and on Instagram @meetthepowercouple
